Our Mission Statement:
The Movement Cooperative at Indiana University aims to create a safe and welcoming environment in which anyone is encouraged to explore dance through creating, learning, and experimenting with movement. It will act as an opportunity for anyone to take dance classes, choreograph, discuss creative projects, showcase movement-based work, and take leadership in pursuing movement-based ideas. While participating, students will meet new friends, explore new movement experiences, and support a diverse group of peers.
A Little More Information:
Movement Cooperative at Indiana University, or MoCo as we easily refer to it, is an on-campus student organization focused around physical movement and the arts. MoCo aims to create a safe and welcoming environment in which anyone is encouraged to explore dance through creating, learning, and experimenting with movement. Because of that, we are not an auditioned group or company of selected members. Instead, MoCo offers a variety of open events including sunset yoga sessions, dance classes, clothing swaps, choreography sessions, and an annual dance showcase. Our range in dance styles offered in classes has included jazz, contemporary, heels, musical theatre, modern, pilates, and even popping! If it involves movement, MoCo is its advocate! Additionally, MoCo works to take leadership in pursuing movement-based ideas, openly welcomes all those interested in moving, and encourages all styles and forms of moving. We hope to see you come out and move with us!
